Look at the following sentence.

Deborah found Mary walking along the road.

Mary was offered a lift.
In the sentence; Deborah offered Mary a lift. Can you identify the subject and the indirect object in the sentence?

Answer

 

We can still change and use the indirect object as the subject in the passive.

For  example

In this  case ,we  are more interested in what was done to Mary rather than the doer of the action who is Deborah.

Now, look at more examples.

The guest of honour was given a bouquet of flowers.

The parents were shown children's work.

The guests were sent invitation cards.

The girl was promised many presents.

The couple was offered name tags.
