ESSAY - A FOOTBALL MATCH

Paragraph 1.

Exposition/introduction

John was seated in the living room watching a football match on television. It was his sister's birthday. His mother wanted him to go to the supermarket to do some shopping for the party. John did not did want to go out that day because his favourite team was playing on the television that day. He wondered why his sister was not being asked to go and shop yet it was her birthday party. He thought about it and decided to go reluctantly.

With the help of your teacher, discuss and identify incidences that can incite arise of action in a composition writing.

On his way he passed by a soccer field. He saw his friends playing football against a team they never liked. They quickly beckoned him to join them to enable them defeat their opponents. John was in a dilemma to play or not to play. He thought of his mother waiting for the shopping to do the cooking. He was at across road, whether to take the shopping home first then come back and play, or to play first then take the shopping home later.

RISING ACTION

He knew his mother would not let him out once he got back home. He made up his mind to join his friends and play football.He quickly changed and got into the pitch. John was eager to tackle and win the game. He occasionally dribbled, crossed and effectively controlled the ball,but ended up missing an open goal.

 

PARAGRAPH 4

Suddenly there was a clap of thunder as they continued playing. John could not resist the lure to continue playing. He told himself he could continue playing for ten more minutes. The match got more  and more exciting as the drizzle made the soccer field wet and slippery.

THE CLIMAX

What central part does climax play in essay writing?

PARAGRAPH 5

John had the ball and was heading to the net. An opponent deliberately obstructed him as he ran with the ball from the wing to meet the striker. He missed his footage, lost his balance and flew up into the air. He came down tumbling and crush landed face downwards. He let out a yelp then went motionless. 

PARAGRAPH 6

His friends got scared and ran away because they did not know the extent of his injury. One of them  went and informed John's  mother that he had  had an injury in a gamea of football. She abandoned whatever she was doing and rushed to the scene of accident. She  immediately called an ambulance which took John to the hospital. John stayed in the hospital for one week nursing his injuries.

His sister's birthday party was ruined. From that day henceforth, John's mother burned him from playing football. John felt very unhappy as well as sorry for his sister. He learnt to avoid being distructed easily and being more focused. He also learnt to always deal with one item at a time.
