Effects of social misuse

What is social misuse?

Social - Relating to someone or people. Misuse - Wrong, improper or ill usage. Therefore social misuse means using a relationship in a wrong way.

 

Ways in which we can abuse or misuse relationships include;

  • Gossiping and slandering our friends and relatives.

  • Mere arguments and fights.

  • Taking bad advantage of relatives eg by engaging them in an unacceptable sexual relations.
  • Failing to help them deliberately when you are able to do so. For nstance, when a man deliberately abundons his family and goes for a second wife. 

  • Chosing not to work, hence poverty and every time not having enough for the family.
  • Failing to appreciate others, belittling and despising them. This happens when we fail to understand and cope with others' weaknesses. We are not equal.

Sexual misuse

Romans 1:24 - 27

 

  • We should not dishonour the body by satisfying its sinful sexual desires.

  • Men should not marry fellow men.

  • 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 The wicked because of their immoral practices will not enter the kingdom of heaven 

  • Galatians 5:19 Prostitution, homosexuality, rape, incest, adultery and fornication are all ways of sexual misuse.

  • Sex is allowed only in marriage.

 

Effects of sexual misuse

Deuteronomy 28:20 - 22

 

  • There are STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) and STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases), which are dangerous to our health. Some of these are:

  • Syphilis – affects the blood and the spinal chord.

  • Gonorrhoea – causes sterility and blind- ness in children born to an infected mother.

  • HIV/AIDS – leads to death. •

  • Early pregnancies are another result of sexual misuse. Pupils, especially the girls, drop out of school in order to take care of the baby. 

  • Sexual misuse can also result in early marriages, abortions, guilt and stress both to the affected people and their families.
