The raising of Lazarus

John 11:38-44

  • Lazarus was Mary and Martha’s brother.
  • Jesus loved them. Lazarus died as Mary and Martha were waiting for Jesus to get to him and heal him of his illness.
  • He was in the tomb for four days before Jesus arrived.
  • Jesus wept when He saw the grief the people had over Lazarus’ death.
  • He went to the tomb, prayed to God aloud so that the people would see.
  • He was sent by God, and called Lazarus out of the tomb. Lazarus came out alive and in his grave clothes.

The miraculous catch of fish

Luke 5:3-11

  • As Jesus was calling the first disciples, He met Simon Peter, James and John.
  • They had been fishing in the Lake of Galilee all night and had caught nothing.
  • Jesus told Simon to cast his nets into the lake. He caught such a large number of fish that his nets began to break. He had to call for another boat to help him. They filled both boats until they began to sink. They however, left everything when they got back to the shore and followed Jesus.

Calming the storm

Luke 8:22 - 25

  • Jesus told the disciples to cross with him to the other side of the lake.
  • As Jesus and His disciples sailed, there was a storm upon the Lake of Galilee.
  • The disciples got scared for the boat was filling up with water.
  • They went to wake Jesus up.
  • Jesus woke up and commanded the wind and the waters to subside, and all was calm.
  • He rebuked His disciples for their lack of faith.
  • The disciples were amazed that even nature; the winds and the waters obey at His command.

The feeding of the 5 000 people

John 6:1 - 13

  • Jesus went across Lake Galilee.
  • A large crowd followed Him up the hill because they wantd to hear Him teach and see Him perform miracles.
  • After teaching them Jesus saw that the people were hungry.
  • He asked Philip where they could buy food to feed them. Philip said that they would need a lot of money to buy enough food to feed everyone.
  • There were 5 000 people in the crowed. This excluded women and children.
  • Andrew Simon Peter's brother, told Jesus that there was a small boy who had 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.

  • However, that was not going to be enough to feed everyone.
  • Jesus already knew what to do.
  • Jesus took the bread and fish from the boy, He gave thanks and the food was multiplied.
  • The food was distributed to everyone and they all ate as much as they wanted.
  • After everyone was satisfied, the disciples collected 12 baskets of leftovers.

Walking on water

John 6:16 - 21

  • Jesus again displayed His power over nature when He walked on water.
  • The disciples were on their way to Capernaum by boat.
  • They had rowed some distance when they saw Jesus approach them, walking on the water.
  • They were terrified. Jesus told them not to be afraid for it was Him.
