Compound words

Some words in English combine so that their meaning is formed by the meaning of one part combined with the meaning of the other part.

Examples:

armchair: a chair with a place to rest your arms on.

breakfast: a meal you take in the morning to break the fast since you had supper the previous evening. (You were fasting the whole night, weren’t you?)
