Germination of a seed  by  Olpha Janduko

What is germination?

Germination is the process during which the seed develops into a seedling.

Parts of a seed

Name the conditions necessary for germination.

They are:

1.Water

To dissolve food present in the cotyledon.

2.Oxygen

To produce energy to the seed to grow during respiration.

3. Warmth

To make the developing cell active.

What is happening in the diagram?

Beaker A - The  cotton doesn't contain water hence germination is not taking place.

Beaker B - The cotton contain water/moist hence germination is taking place.

What is happening here?

Beaker A - It is open so the seeds get oxygen for germination.

Beaker B - There is a layer of oil preventing oxygen from reaching the   seeds hence no germination.

Say something about this image.

Beaker A - The seeds are in a very cold place hence no germination.

Beaker B - The seeds are in a favourabletemperature hence there is germination.
