Effects of weather

Effects of weather changes on dressing

- Human beings put on clothes for various reasons.

- We put on clothes to protect our bodies  from the cold, and to make us comfortable around others.

- The dressings cover our body parts.

- When deciding what cloth to wear, we have to consider the weather and how the weather changes.

- The way of dressing changes according to the weather.

When it is sunny

- People wear light clothes for example t-shirts or clothing made from cotton or silk material.

- Effects of weather changes on farming activities

- Farming is the practice of keeping livestock and growing crops.

- Weather changes affect farming because the weather affects both plants and animals.

When the weather is rainy

- People wear clothing that can protect them from getting wet and those that may keep them warm.

- Such clothing could be raincoats, hats and gumboots.

- Umbrellas also help in protecting one from the rain.

- However, umbrellas may also be used to keep away the sun’s rays on a very hot day.

When the weather is cold

- The dressing changes to warm clothing for example clothing made from woollen material and from very heavy material.

For example pullovers, sweaters, heavy socks and gloves.

Effects of weather changes on farming activities

- Farming is the practice of keeping livestock and growing crops.

- Weather changes affects farming because the weather affects both plants
and animals.

- The weather brings about two seasons: rainy season or dry season.

- During the rainy season, there is plenty of water from the rains.

- The soil becomes  soft making it a good time for a farmer to dig the soil and plant seeds.

- These seeds can then germinate into young plants.

- The rainy season may also be referred to as the planting season for the farmer.

- Grass also grow well during the rainy season.

- Rains are a good source of water for the animals.

- Animals do not need to walk long distances in search for water.

- During rainy season, animals can easily get grass that has grown without walking a long distance.

- However, the rains are not always good.
- Too much rains cause floods.

- Floods may uproot and wash away plants.

- Floods also kill animals, destroy homes and even causes death to humans.

- During the dry season, there is scarcity of water.

- Most plants have already matured and are ready to be harvested by the farmer.

- The dry season may also be the harvesting season for the farmer.

- When the dry season persists for a long time, we say there is a drought.

- When there is a drought, plants do not grow and there is too little water and food for both animals and plants.

- Drought causes death to both animals and plants.
